Appointments

Quote / Testimonial:
Welcome to some useful advice on how you can make the best use of online consultations (sometimes known as e-consultations) via the form on our website.

We are committed to providing you with the highest quality of care and support.

As part of our ongoing efforts to ensure that our services remain efficient and effective, we would like to address an important aspect of our online consultations.
Online consultations are a convenient way for you to reach out to us with your health concerns. They allow us to assess and address your needs promptly, often saving you a trip to the practice. However, it’s important to remember that every online consultation is reviewed by one of our GPs, which involves both time and resources. These consultations are funded by the NHS, meaning that each submission has a cost to the taxpayer.
While we encourage you to use online consultations for genuine health concerns, we kindly ask you to consider a few points before filling out a form:

1. Is there someone else you can ask for advice?
For minor issues, check www.nhs.uk/ or your local pharmacist might be able to provide you with the guidance you need.

2. Have you tried over-the-counter medications?
Many common ailments, such as colds, minor aches, and indigestion, can often be treated with medicines available at your local pharmacy. Pharmacists are also qualified to give advice on a wide range of health issues.

3. Is it a medical emergency?
If you believe your condition is an emergency, please contact emergency services immediately or visit the nearest A&E department.

By considering these points, you help us to ensure that our team is able to deliver care in the most appropriate and effective way. This helps maintain the quality of care for everyone and ensures that NHS resources are used effectively.

We aim to process your online request within two working day. Please bear with us whilst we make this transition, we value your time and understanding.

If you need help Monday to Friday from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm or Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, please still use the above number and our Islington iHub service will help you (more information below on evening and weekend appointments).

If you need help between 8.00pm and 8.00am please go to www.111.nhs.uk or call 111.

Managing Online Consultations: A Guide for Our Patients

Your appointment

However you choose to contact us, we may offer you a consultation:

  • by phone
  • face to face at the surgery
  • on a video call
  • by text or email

Appointments by phone, video call or by text or email can be more flexible and often means you get help sooner.

Nurse consultations are available by appointment during core hours on weekdays between 08:30 and 17:30pm. Nurse appointments are usually for 15 minutes.

GP consultations are available by appointment during core hours on weekdays from 09:00 to 11:40 and 15:30 to 18:10. GP appointments are usually for 10-12 minutes.

We run extended hours clinics on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 18:30 – 19:30 (last booked appointments are at 19:15)
Each consultation is for one person only and you are advised to that the doctor will not be able to address multiple problems in one appointment.

You must check yourself in when you arrive for your appointment. You can do this on our Patient Self Check-in Screen or, alternatively, you can let a receptionist know you have arrived.

If you have an emergency that cannot wait, the on-call doctor will be available to see you on the day in either our morning or afternoon daily on-call surgeries.

If your consultation includes a physical examination that you feel sensitive about or if you would simply like another person in the room when you see the doctor, please let our receptionist know and we will arrange for a trained chaperone to be present.

We are a training practice and sometimes the doctor will be running the surgery with a GP trainee, junior doctor or medical student who has been trained in the importance of strict patient confidentiality. If you would prefer not to have another person in the room during your consultation, please inform reception or your doctor.
